Hot spots to visit in Cape Town in 2017

Cape Town has won many international awards as a top tourist destination. It is almost constantly evolving with hot and happening spots opening up all the time. It is a city that’s filled with trendy, quirky, sexy and novel restaurants, pubs and clubs. Theatre is a big deal in the Mother City and of course, Cape Town has some of the most beautiful, natural sights in the world. It’s also a growing metropolis so it’s no longer only the city centre that buzzes with exciting spaces and people. The surrounds and the coastlines are becoming very popular too. What’s more the people in Cape Town come from all over the world so locals can expect tourists no matter where they go.

Here are the top spots to visit in Cape Town in 2017

Moro Gelato

Cape Town often delivers some beautiful summers and there is no better way to cool down and chill out during the summer but with an ice cold gelato. Treat yourself to a trendy and upmarket gelato experience by visiting Moro Gelato, situated in Long Street in the middle of Cape Town’s CBD. If you have ever had a true Italian gelato then you will know how decadent and scrumptious this treat can be. And Italian gelato, like the product offered by Moro Gelato, is free from additives, colourants and preservatives. Even added fats are out of the picture so you know you’re getting authentic gelato. The co-owner, Stefano Moro, makes the Cioccolato (chocolate flavour) according to his grandmother’s old recipe. This is made with 70% Belgian chocolate which makes it melt in your mouth delectable. There’s even a vegan option on the menu.

Rush or Jump

Indoor trampoline parks have become the latest and greatest family activity and, no matter the weather, it might just be the most fun you could have as a family. There are two very popular spots in Cape Town that offer this type of entertainment and that’s the Rush Indoor Trampoline Park in Claremont and Jump Around in Paarden Eiland. Both parks offer wall-to-wall trampoline arenas, foam pits, dodge-ball courts, basketball hoops and much more. This is the most thrilling experience no matter whether you’re 40 or four years old. Spending some time at one of these parks results in hours of fun and can be a successful team-building experience too for corporates who enjoy some fun together.

Dine with the dinos

The Raptor Room on Roeland Street in Cape Town’s city centre is an interesting and unique way of dining. The interior is inspired by the jungles of the Amazon and tiny little dinosaurs can be found all over the venue. This is a diner type of restaurant which has proven a hit with Cape Town locals. Although the menu keeps it local by using some of South Africa’s best ingredients but with a definite American influence. The food is also unique and the flavours that are paired together are complementary and creative. This is a destination that will delight all five of your senses.

Comedy club

The Cape Town Comedy Club has a long story behind it. It began as a pop-up comedy show in 2005 to form a part of the Cape Town festival. Then in 2013 it found a permanent home at the Pumphouse at the V&A Waterfront. It has hosted some of the world’s most famous comedians as well as the cream of the crop of South Africa’s talent. If Cape Town is part of your holiday plans for 2017 then book into one of the Waterfront hotels and spend your time exploring the V&A and make sure The Cape Town Comedy Club is on your list.

Rockwell Theatre

While you’re in the area of the V&A Waterfront make a turn at the Rockwell Theatre and enjoy some comedy, cabaret, live bands and even illusionists. Since the theatre launched in 2015 it’s seen some incredible performers and enjoyed enthusiastic crowds. South Africa’s top performers have graced the stage and these include popular bands such as The Rudimentals and Watershed. Ard Matthews will be gracing the stage at the end of January 2017 so get your tickets now as the theatre can only hold 150 guests maximum.

Of course, Cape Town still offers you her old treasures that are a favourite amongst locals and regular visitors. You should definitely visit the wine routes, the Stellenbosch markets, go up Table Mountain and enjoy the beaches and take in the Mother City’s best assets.
