The oldest guest farm in South Africa – since 1935. Melton Wold is our little piece of heaven in the heart of the Karoo, come enjoy Karoo hospitality at its best on an historic farm where time seems to stand still.
Put away your woes and worries for a week or so. Turn out all disturbing thoughts and let your troubles go. If you’re on a holiday and have no work to do – it will not restore you if your mind’s not resting too....
Melton Wold lies midway between Cape Town and Johannesburg, at 1295 meters above sea level. It is centrally situated in the middle of the Great Karoo between Victoria West and Loxton...in a wide valley north of the Nuweveld Mountains in the catchment area of the Brak River.
Guest House
The guest house offers a unique blend of rustic charm, historic ambiance, and warm hospitality, setting it apart from typical accommodations. Our guest house has 22 rooms, offering a wide variety of options, ranging from en-suite family rooms sleeping up to 4 guests, to en-suite double, twin and single beds.
In total we have 6 Family rooms, 3 Double rooms, 5 Twin Bedded rooms and 3 Single rooms. 18 of our rooms have en-suite bathrooms, with the remainder having shared bathrooms.
All our rooms have fireplaces and/or wall mounted heaters and each bed has an electrical blanket. You'll be sure to have a cozy night's rest if you visit during the winter months. Other room amenities include a hairdryer, wall mounted fan, old fashioned style radio and bathroom amenities (shampoo, soap and body lotion).
The main part of the guest house dates back to 1889. There is a comfortable lounge, a tearoom, a sunroom, a tv room with DSTV and an old-fashioned ladies bar, “The Deer and Pheasant”. In the tearoom we offer mid-morning and afternoon tea or coffee with homemade treats. Our long stoep overlooks the sprawling lawn where you can enjoy croquet and bowling or just lounge under the trees.
Like the whole farm the Guest house is also pet friendly subject to the pet being always on a leash. Overall, the guest house at Melton Wold Guest Farm offers a unique and unforgettable experience, combining historic charm, natural beauty, and warm hospitality to create lasting memories for guests.
Campsite
Our campsite is nestled amidst lush green grass, conveniently located right next to our swimming pool. With 10 available sites, each one is equipped with essential amenities, including a water tap, electricity point, and a stone-built braai for your convenience.
We prioritize your comfort by providing clean and accessible ablution facilities. Enjoy hot showers, clean toilets, washing basins, outdoor drying lines, and a dishwashing area. Plus, being situated on a working game and sheep farm, you might even catch a glimpse of some wildlife wandering around the campsite.
As a camper at Melton Wold Guest Farm, you'll have access to all the recreational facilities and the guest house. Additionally, we offer convenient amenities such as firewood, homemade bread, braai packs, and garden salads upon request. If you prefer not to cook, you're welcome to join us in the guest house for a delicious meal.
At night, gather around a crackling campfire with fellow travelers to share stories, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the warmth and camaraderie of outdoor living. It's the perfect opportunity to forge new friendships and create unforgettable memories.
Keeping up with a longstanding tradition, we serve our guests coffee and tea every morning in bed. During mealtimes we still play the xylophone to invite you to sit down and enjoy our farm-style cuisine in our expansive dining room.
We offer three meals a day where lunch can be ordered in advance from a pre-selected seasonal menu.
Melton Wold Guest Farm caters for wedding receptions, providing a tranquil setting in an oasis in the heart of the Karoo.
The reception can be held either inside our large dining area that can comfortably seat 120 people, or outside in the garden.
The ceremony is held under a covered area in a cottonwood forest.
Our conference venue comfortably accommodates up to 100 guests. We provide meals and tea & coffee is available throughout the day.

DIRECTIONS
Melton Wold is situated 40KM from Victoria West on the Loxton Road (R63). There are signposts 1km either side of Melton Wolds Turn off. The last 3KM to Melton Wold from after the turn-off is a gravel road. The Road from Beaufort-West to Loxton is a Gravel Road.
