SKOORSTEENBERG FARM AND COTTAGES offers Farm Style Self Catering Accommodation + Camping in the Tankwa Karoo, Western Cape

Skoorsteenberg Farm is situated in the dry and arid Tankwa Karoo region of South Africa, not far from the Tankwa National Park and the infamous Afrikaburn site. Set at the foot of the Skoorsteenberg Mountain – famous for its geological formations and bushman paintings.

Skoorsteenberg Farm is ideal for people who love nature and want to try something different, or just need to re-charge their batteries in the middle of nowhere... Experience beautiful sunsets and stars... Encounter wildlife... Watch and feed farm animals... Go for donkey rides... Or better yet, just relax and enjoy!

We are Eco- and dog friendly. Dogs are welcome - please enquire beforehand.  We speak English, Afrikaans & German.

Skoorsteenberg Farm Cottages

Accommodation is offered in 2 self-catering cottages, accommodating 6 guests in each. Each cottage comprises 3 bedrooms. The first bedroom contains a double bed and the other 2 bedrooms contain 2 single beds in each. 

The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and the second and third bedrooms have access to a separate shower and toilet. Each cottage is equipped with linen and bath towels. 

Each cottage has a kitchen and lounge area opening onto a verandah, from where guests can enjoy the beautiful views and sunsets. A limited amount of wood is available for purchasing so please bring charcoal and extra wood.

Electricity and hot water is supplied by solar energy, and there is no connectivity, making it the ideal getaway from city life, where children can play and feed the farm animals. 

Camping

We have a newly renovated Campsite area with ablution facilities, Braai area, swimming pool and trees for shade.

Things to do

The area offers wonderful hikes, cycle and bike tracks, and a small dam to cool down in. 

Game Viewing - Wildlife on the farm includes Springbok, Gemsbok, Black Wildebeest, Ostriches and other small game. 

Domestic farm animals are sheep, goats, donkeys, horses, chickens and geese. 

Donkey Cart rides can be organised on request.

Distances:  Approximate distances from the nearest towns are: Ceres (180 km), Sutherland (120 km), Calvinia (110 km) and Middelpos (52 km).
