Surrounded by indigenous forests with majestic trees, mysterious birds, fynbos as far as the eye can see and game roaming free on the plains above the forest...you will enjoy total peace and tranquility, and to truly escape, there is no cell phone reception, wifi or TV to spoil the atmosphere.

The Bee's Knees

This spectacular house sleeps 4 adults in two luxurious en-suite bedrooms. Situated directly on the cliff edge, enjoy magnificent ocean views, waves crashing on the rocks below and whales so close you can touch them. 

Both bedrooms are equally splendid with double showers looking out onto endless sea views. Relax in the romantic bathtub big enough for two while gazing down the cliffs or out to sea. Enjoy luxury in a wild but supremely sophisticated setting.

Beautifully furnished with fine natural fabrics, the finest cotton linen and excellent kitchen appliances, this house is for the discerning few who love the wildness of the African coast but with a twist of sophistication. Not suitable for young children.

Villa 8 is ideal for Honeymooners, very private & romantic.  We have a beautiful stone chapel on the property that can be hired for small weddings - please contact us for more information.

The Cat's Whiskers

This wonderful house offers splendid sea, cliff and forest views. Sleeping 6 in 3 en-suite bedrooms, this house is both luxurious and comfortable. The main bedroom takes your breath away with glass door opening on to views of the ocean and the cliffs. Watch whales and zebra from the luxurious bath big enough for two.

From the living room, glass doors open up onto the sea facing deck where you can watch waves crashing on the rocks below and dolphin swimming past every morning and evening. In winter, whales shelter in the small bay below where they come to calve.  Slide the glass doors from the dining room and you are on the fynbos deck where proteas attract colourful sunbirds. When the nights are chilly, laze on big cushions around the wood burning stove and listen to the ocean crashing on the rocks below. 

The house is fully equipped with quality furnishings, appliances, the finest cotton line, MP3 / CD sound sytem - everything you need to make your stay comfortable. “The Cat’s Whiskers” was created for peace, reflecting, playing games and conversation and with this in mind there is no television or wifi to spoil the atmosphere. 

Forest Whisper - Magical Treehouse

Our third and newest house takes your breath away. Emerging from the midst of lush indigenous forest overlooking ocean, estuary, river and valley, the luxurious spaces cascade down the slope in split levels, built around and amongst the trees. 

The feeling is peaceful, tranquil and mystical. Once you’ve settled into the glass and timber living spaces and slept a night or two in the secluded bedrooms you’ll never want to leave.

Things to do

• There are many hiking trails to explore on Ballots Heights nature reserve. Walk with zebra, ostrich, springbok & bushbuck and, in the evening, spot a karakul or porcupine,  genet or owl​
• Spot an otter or the endangered Oyster Catcher on the pebbly beach at  Ballots Bay, a haven of peace and tranquility much loved by fishermen.
• Steep paths lead down the cliffs to secluded rock pools where you can cool off, protected from the pounding surf. Explore further south and find the only living coastal cave in Africa.  
• Discover the magical forest boma where you can picnic or barbecue and watch secretive forest birds and shy bush buck. 
• Bird lovers can spot more than 200 species including the Narina Trogon, Knysna Turaco and Knysna woodpecker.
