Geography and history

Bedfordview is an affluent town situated in the Ekurhuleni region of the Gauteng Province in South Africa. This town was founded originally by white settlers in the 19th century. The town was laid out on a farm named Elandsfontein and the Witwatersrand Gold Reef had a very important influence on what the town has grown into.

Bedfordview has a total population of approximately 22 000 residents and the majority of them speak English. Airports Company South Africa and the Eastgate Mall are two very important businesses found in this town. Bedfordview was forced to join Germiston as part of the Transitional Council of Greater Germiston.
