Amersfoort
Amersfoort is a small sheep farming town in the Grass and Wetlands region of Mpumalanga, South Africa; where the Skulpspruit (Shell Stream) flows nearby.
Geography and History
Established in 1888 around a Dutch Reformed Church, which was built in 1876, this small town is not a tourist's first stop over, but has many things to offer visitors passing through. This town was named after the founding brothers hometown in the Netherlands.
Amersfoort is joined to Ermelo via a bridge over the Vaal River named The Begin der Lijn, it was built in 1896. Today it is a National monument and is quite an impressive sight to behold.

Activities
The Sungazer Reserve, is a must-see for visitors. This reserve was established to preserve several species of lizards. Arrangements need to be made with the reserve prior to visiting.
Amersfoort is also home to a well maintained 9 hole golf course for the avid golfer visitor.
