Wepener
Geography and history
Wepener is a small town located in the Motheo and Xhariep region of the Free State Province in South Africa. This town was named after Louw Wepener, a Boer leader, who was killed during the second Basotho War. Wepener was founded in 1867 on the banks of Jammerbergspruit. Farming activities in this region include cattle and sheep, dairy, wheat and maize crops.
