Geography and history
Verkeerdevlei is a small town located in the Lejweleputswa region of the Free State Province in South Africa. The name of the town is Afrikaans for “wrong marsh”. This name is most probably derived from the stream in town that flows in a westerly direction and not in the usual easterly direction. It is situated 39 km from Brandfort and the population a meagre 151.
