Geography and history

Petrus Steyn is a small farming town situated in the Thabo Mofutsanyana region of the Free State Province in South Africa. This town was established in 1914 and named after its owner, Petrus Steyn. It is located 45 km from Lindley and situated between Tweeling and Kroonstad. Petrus Steyn has a total population of 2 000 residents and the majority of them speak Afrikaans and Sotho. The main crops sown in this area are potatoes, sunflowers, maize, corn and soya beans.
