Hanover
Geography and History
Hanover is located in the Great Karoo, area known as the north-east Karoo, closest to the Free State and within the Northern Cape province of South Africa .
Hanover is centrally situated geographically which makes it a perfect stop over en-route to most places in South Africa! Hanover sits at the crossroads and midpoint of the N1 highway between Cape Town to the South and Johannesburg to the North and the N10 between Upington (the route to Namibia ) and eastwards towards Port Elizabeth on the Eastern Cape coast.
Activities
Anglican Church - This national monument was built in 1895 and is still in use.
Ash Tree Art Gallery - Experience a different kind of art.
Cenotaph Memorial - Memorial to those who died in WWII.
Hanover Museum - Housed in the farm house around which the town developed. The museum in Viljoen Street contains artifacts dating back to pioneer days.

House of Olive Schreiner - Grace Str. The famous author lived here during the Anglo-Boer War
Take a walk through the town and view some of the houses dating from the time Hanover was founded, which have been kept or restored to their original beauty.
Visit the brickfields in Kwezi Township.
Take a walk up Trappieskop to see the outstretched Karoo surrounding Hanover.
