Marydale
Geography and History
Marydale is a town in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. Marydale was established in 1903 by the Dutch Reformed Church. Marydale was named after the wife of Mr GP Snyman, owner of the farm on which the town was laid out. Marydale is situated 76 km north-west of Prieska and 120 km south-east of Upington.
On the northwest side of Marydale is a rich underground water source and the main means of water supply is by borehole and wind pumps. The town depends mainly on sheep farming to sustain its self.
Activities
Boegoeberg Dam - Completed in 1931, surrounded by the Kalahari’s red dunes and countless kokerbome (quiver trees), the dam is a watersports and anglers’ Mecca. Tel 083 257 4730
Eselkloupan - Fossilised track resembling donkey spoor. Viewing is by appointment only.

Roaring Sands - White dunes surrounded by typically red Kalahari dunes, ‘roar’ when the wind blows. Sand curios for sale. Tel: 053 313 1061/2.
Water Turbine - On the farm Winstead, you can inspect a water turbine driven by solid-oak gears imported from England in 1910
