Geography and History
Petrusville is a small town in the eastern Karoo region of the Northern Cape province in South Africa. Petrusville is situated 45km north-east of Philipstown, 56km south-east of Kraankuil and 10km south of the Orange River. Founded about 1877 on the farm Rhenosterfontein and named after Petrus Jacobus van der Walt who had bought it in 1810 and donated a portion of it to the Dutch Reformed Church in 1822
Activities
Dutch Reformed Church Museum - The museum houses a horse-drawn, hooded cart and century-old clothing.
Pillar Fountain - Erected in honour of King Edward VII.
San Rock Art - May be viewed on the farm Kraaibosch. Tel 0536612 ask for 1312.
Trenches - Stone trenches from the Anglo-Boer War can still be found in the koppies.
