Komga
Geography and History
Komga is a small scenic village set among beautiful grasslands of the Amathole region. Komga lies about 65 kms to the East of King William's Town and about 60 km North of East London.
The word "Komga" means 'piece of clay'. Komga's 19th century St Paul's Church here has been declared a national monument. The church was opened on June 13, 1866. The original church consisted of the present nave only, and the chancel was added in 1880.

The district around Komga is ideal for eco-tourists, and for bird lovers the district boasts a wide range of bird species.
Komga lies in the Amathole District of the Eastern Cape, which is named after the legendary Amathole Mountains. The Amathole District is the most diverse of all the districts in the province, and the area has a number of game parks and nature reserves.
About 10 km away is the Colonel Moore Memorial - he being the first South African awarded the Victoria Cross on South African soil.
