Sterkspruit
Sterkspruit is a town in Joe Gqabi District Municipality in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.
Sterkspruit lies some 51 km South-East of Zastron, 96 km north-east of Aliwal North, and 24 km from the Lesotho border. It takes its name from the Sterkspruit, the watercourse on which it is situated. The name is Afrikaans and means ‘strong stream’.
Surrounded by the Drakensburg mountains of the Eastern Cape, Sterkspruit is a small scenic rural town consisting of many tribal villages. These villages are a mixture of both Xhosa and Sotho people and offer a fascinating multi-cultural diversity.
