Coligny
Geography and history
Coligny, originally named Treurfontein which means “well of sadness”, is a small town located in the Central Region of the North West Province in South Africa. It is named after Admiral Gaspard de Coligny, a French Huguenot who was killed in the Massacre of St Bartholomew in Paris. Coligny is known for its maize farming and the majority of its residents speak the Tswana language. It is situated in the newly named DR NGAKA MODIRI MOLEMA DISTRICT.
